Disarmament has start in Jonglei state By Jacob Achiek Jok March 1, 2012 The SPLA forces has started the disarmament process in Jonglei, the forces are now being deployed to the areas of Lou, Bor and Murle, State governor Kuol Manyang disclosed. The disarmament was scheduled to start on 1st March, with the movement of the forces to the grounds, we know the SPLA has moves its forces to Boma, greater Lou areas and Akobo, Duk, Payanyagor and Bor town. Others are deployed to Pibor, Likuangolei Gumuruk and still more forces are coming and will be arriving Bor by tomorrow from Juba. State governor adds that, the SPLA campaign commander will be arriving Bor today for establishing its operation headquarter in the state capital. He said the logistical needs such as water tankers, medicines, food services and fuel for the mobility are on the way to Bor and will be arriving at any time. After I brief the counties commissioners, ministers, Members of the parliaments and the paramount chiefs the day before yesterday in order to handover their guns to the SPLA authorities if the disarmament operation started it operations in the state, I have been officially informed about the disarmament starting day, Governor said. Governor said that the commissioner of Pibor county Joshua Konyi give good example yesterday when he met with Pibor county chiefs and convey the message to the chiefs so that they will be rushing to their Payam and pass the message to their youths and elders in their localities to easily handover their guns without indiscipline cases in the county. Meanwhile, during the youths meeting with their elders in Likuangolei, they misunderstand their elders speech and responds by saying they are not willing to handover their arms to SPLA forces in any means. This was a report send to the state authorities by people from Pibor County. The state governor said there shall be borehole in papa zone areas and to stop the movement of the criminals between Bor and Pibor County. Manyang said, he will be the first person to hand over his arm to disarmament force in the state to show good example to his people. He said after I hand in my guns then who are you to refuse your arm. He said he/she who is refusing to give his arm to the SPLA forces during the disarmament day will face the law, although you are a minister or Member of Parliament you will be answerable. |
