John Luke Jok was wrong:

Response: - Easter Sunday remarks by John Luk Jok

During Easter Sunday services H.E Justices John Luk make a few remarked focuses on what he called the Nuer rebellion against the government in which they are majority and try to convince the Presbyterian Church Congregation in Juba, that Peter Gadet and his colleagues left the government because of Nuer marginalization within the government of Southern Sudan.

No, it is misplacement of Mayom declaration in which highlight and emphasis the reasons we revolt. In this context we would like to inform our Christians members across the South Sudan for what we stand for. As many good Christians may like to hear and stand for, is justices and peace always embrace. We stand up because of deep sorrow that our country facing.

There are, for one thing, the sorrows of injustices. Those who enjoy a vast range coexist in our country system and millions others in state of perpetual poverty, and with millions for whom political terror, torture, and tyranny are ever-present context of their lives, their oppression often being perpetrated or supported by those very government officials whose own families enjoy great freedom.

There is also the sorrow of misplaced values created by our current system. It is in no doubt that hundreds millions of dollars are spent each year into pockets of individual, and more millions are stupidly spent each year by the well-to-do with on outrageous luxuries.

Under this regime, we are facing destruction of our tradition, the loose of a sense of dotage, destruction of our communities supported by the regime in which the example can be taken from echelon official given gun and ammunition to their community against other vulnerable community in Jonglie and Lake states, at the same time using modern weapons against their citizens in a pretext of civil disarmament.

The point we are making here, is to spread consciousness of corruption and spreading determination to throw off the shackles of that corruption in GOSS. In our Christian teaching however, theft is one of great sin. We are a force of reform of our economic development and our social order, as many of you know that our country is heading in wrong direction. The base faith communities are not given their rights and their teaching is prohibited. The struggle of so many oppressed people who are seeking to say their word, who desire to be economically free, who want to live without fear, and their properties looted by the very government that suppose to protect them, this is what we are against. As many of you know in our Christian tradition sin is not considered as an individual only, it can be regard as a social fact, the absence of brotherhood exploitation man by man and injustices against your fellow human.

In this regard, voiceless and terror join hands with hunger SPLA and reached into conclusion to take up arms for liberation of their misery to get ride of exploiters and dominators. Twenty Billions US dollars had been spent without basic need to reach our local communities in villages in Southern Sudan. These monies are pocket by few in GOSS and we want our masses to turnout and revolt against them so that the new face for development to take place. .

   H.E Justice John Luk will agree with me that if individual are not granted what is due to them, if their claim on others is not acknowledged by those others, if others do not carry out their obligation to them, and then, peace is wounded. Peace can not be in an unjust situation while the vast majority are crying for development and few busy of looting the resources of the nation. My fellow Christians Presbyterians will agree with following word of Isaiah;

To loose the chains of injustices and unite the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke, to share your food with hungry, provide the poor with wanderer shelter and when you see the naked cloth him. (Isa. 58:6-7)

Therefore, if peace must come nearer, then development and liberation must go hand in hand in our country. In our liberation movement we believe God will take side with us, because we are a force of poor people who had been exploited by few in Juba, those who been enjoy rights and privileges, while majority are denied and deprived of it.

I had an opportunity to be a member of our first parliament in Juba; I asked my colleagues MPs how come we allowed Governor Taban Deng to denied salaries of state for twelve months? Was it right to legislate budget of whole state for a one man? I urge my colleagues MPs for the state grant to be freeze and let the governor to inform the house what happened for the state budget?

In his response, Justice John Luke came out for a defence” it is for a first time to hear that Governor Taban had reach to the point to denied civil servants salaries in the state he claim “Justice John had been a long friend to Governor Taban for number of years and was lately alleged both with governor Taban that they share 2% of oil revenues suppose to be for quick pilot project for community development in western Nuer, once may not be surprise with bitter defence for his good governor Taban.

I have respect with John being an elder in our Nuer culture. I would not like to offend him neither Taban, but who knows the time will came for confrontation one day where facts will be display for the public to judge.

In this juncture, I would like to remind our faithful Christians’ congregations about the important issues that South Sudan Liberation Army (SSLA) has raises,

1.     Dissolution of government of southern to be replacing by a national broad base government agreed upon by all the South Sudan political parties.

2.     Meeting of all South Sudan political parties shall be convene and form transitional government

3.     The transitional government shall carry out general election in the republic of Southern Sudan within two years.

4.     The Army of the South Sudan shall be taking care of and transform into a truly professional and national army.

5.     Take practical steps to bring all those involved in corruption to account.

6.     Priority to be given to services delivery for our people

In this reverence, we know how misery our people had been exploited by powerful fraudulent cliques in Juba and we take side with people because we heard their cries and we are against those who oppress them.

Finally, we are deeply concerned that our people had been wounded and they are being wronged.
